This necklace is an 18ct gold on sterling silver pendant and chain based of a replica coin of ancient Santorini. Each state had its own emblem and the dolphin was the symbol of the state of Santorini. This design is over 2500 years old. We took a mould from an ancient coin that was not only one of the first Greek, but also European, coins used as currency of the time.
On the front a pair of dolphins are depicted, swimming in opposite directions. The harmonius movement of the dolphins reflects how they swim naturally in the sea & resembles how they were presented in the coinage of 530BC Santorini.
The 18ct gold vermeil disc is 17mm in diameter and the chain is 44cm in length.
